| Name: | Monkey D. Luffy |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 05-05 |
Character: Monkey D. Luffy
Series: One Piece(Anime)
Version:Pre-Pirate King Luffy.
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Unknown
Appearance: First to be noticed about this pirate was his age, or relative age atleast. Pirates
were not expected to be seventeen years old. On top of the youngster's head sat
a straw hat, the symbol of one of the highest bountied Pirates on the Grand
Line. Luffy was always quite skinny, despite the enormous amounts of food he
would consume on a daily basis. His lanky body type was most likely caused by
the Akuma no Mi(Devil Fruit) he ate as a child. Under his left eye Luffy
carries a scar of his childhood, which he inflicted on himself with a knife to
prove his worth.
Another staple of the Straw-Hat outfit was his redvest. Made of a light fiber it was loose enough to keep him cool in the heat on the ocean. Often he would switch his clothes for a tropical look, wearing an
open Hawaiian shirt. Blue jeans were the only thing he would wear, the same
pair every time. Actually, people weren't sure if he even owned more than one
pair. Pair of open sandals were his traditional footwear, refusing to change them
for boots even in the cold. Luffy's wide eyes and large grin were as part of
his personality just as much as a part of his appearance. Only certain times
did this change, and when it did, someone usually ended up beaten up.
Personality: There never was a pirate quite like Luffy. The happy-go-lucky youth always tried to
have a good time, which involved adventures, fighting, or eating. Unless he was
doing one of those three things, Luffy was moaning and groaning. He would
usually sit on the headpiece of the ship while in transit and sleep, something
he did when bored. Even though he was 17, he had no attention span. In actuality,
he was more like a young child most of the time. In his past he ate a certain
fruit which made him unable to swim any longer. Yet, he would still jump into
water regardless. It seemed like he wasn't very complicated, however, that is a
very wrong assumption.
There was one thing you wouldn't do to Luffy. Mess with his friends. It was a very bad idea. Some how things in his head would start to click and he would be a different person. A stern, pissed-off Luffy
would emerge. He would fight until the death, with no fear of losing. But, he
knew he couldn't lose. If he lost then he wouldn't be able to protect his friends
or become the Pirate King.
Luffy loved hard workers the most. He could sympathize with people working to achieve their goals. Ever since he was a kid,he had a goal and wanted to reach it. He knew he was only a kid from a small
town, but he wanted to be the next great pirate. Luffy surrounds himself with
strong people, whom can help him accomplish his goals. These nakama(friends/crew) are the most important things in his life. And he will always put his life on the line for them, no matter what.
Abilities/Weaponry: When Luffy was a young child he admired the pirate "Red-hair" Shanks. The
pirate and his crew would hang around the local tavern and tell stories to
Luffy. One day, Shanks had found a famed Devil Fruit, the Gomu Gomu(Rubber
Rubber) Fruit. Without knowing, Luffy ate the fruit, forever changing his life.
His body became that of rubber. He was able to deflect bullets, stretch his
limbs, among many things. However, there was a drawback. Eating one of these
cursed fruits turned the sea against you. Someone who ate a Devil Fruit would
never be able to swim in the ocean again.
As he grew up Luffy trained his mind and body to be able to fight on the Grand Line. He would spend his days sparring with his brother, slowly but surely gaining the skills and strength, he needed. As
stupid as he was, Luffy seemed to be some kind of idiot savant. When the time
came, Luffy could become one of the greatest tacticians, always one-step of his
opponents.
The greatest power contained in the young boy did not come from a supernatural fruit. IT came from his steel resolve. Under no circumstances would he allow himself to lose. Even fighting a God, or against a world-renowned Luffy vowed to surpass them, and become even stronger.
Weaknesses: The Ocean. For the rest of his days Luffy would not be able to swim and would sink
to the bottom. He had become a Hammer, and lost all his power in the sea. However,
having friends he could be saved if he was in danger of drowning.
Another weakness was his insatiable appetite. Luffy needed to eat nearly 5 meals a day, large meals, just to go about a regular day. Starving him would be incredibly easy.
Lastly, would be Luffy's stupidity. He could easily be lured into a trap simply as some meat on a string. Also while Luffy couldn't be shot by guns, he was still able to be cut, and stabbed with sharp objects.
History: Growing up in a small fishing village Luffy didn't know much about the outside world. As a child he only learned about the outside world from the pirates that stopped
in the village. One such Pirate was "Red-hair" Shanks. Luffy vowed to become a
great pirate just like Shanks. He would either surpass Shanks or die.
It was months after Luffy gained the devil fruit abilities before his life was changed again. A bandit and his gang came into the tavern and made fun of Shanks, and humiliated him, spilling his drink on the pirate. However, through all this Shanks did nothing. Luffy thought Shanks was showing weakness by not attacking the bandit, and tried to pick a fight with the bandit later. Of
course, the bandit easily overpowered the young boy. Shanks and his crew came
to protect Luffy, teaching him that pirates were meant to protect their
friends, not to be a ruthless criminal. Escaping with Luffy as his gang was
destroyed the bandit planned to toss the boy into the ocean. At that moment a
sea monster ate the bandit and Shanks came to save Luffy. In the chaos, Shanks
lost his arm to the monster. As he left for the last time Shanks left the
crying boy his straw hat as a mark of their promise to meet again on the Grand
Line. That is why the hat means so much to him.
Eventually Luffy gathered a pirate crew and a ship and sailed on the Grand Line. On his adventures he defeated one of the most powerful pirates, killed a man who thought he was a God, and gained one of the
highest bounties by a rookie pirate. Almost halfway to the great treasure, One
Piece, Luffy and his crew sailed into a huge doorway in the middle of the
ocean. As if they were sucked through a cyclone, the crew was separated, and
Luffy found himself in a strange land. When he came to, after sleeping for a
few hours, before him stood a large gate. An entrance to some kind of city.
